Human Twilight Sparkle: Protest Edition

This is a recolour of one of my old pictures, but there is a reason for that
Now this time this image was purposely created for the intended purpose of a rant, so needless to say…

If you have a fanbase that’s big enough, you’ll find the idiots, obnoxious jerks and messed up people, this applies to any fanbase
I think I have already pretty much covered the things I found out about the touhou fanbase
the Pokémon fanbase whines about the pronunciation of names (as well as touhou) as well as the people who argue that the new games are no good and are only played for the nostalgia and provide evidence that clearly shows they haven’t even played the new games
And although many others have figured this out already, among the MLP:FIM fans there are idiots, obnoxious jerks and messed up people as well, they are also known as ‘rabid bronies’

Rabid Bronies have many bad habits:
1. forcing people to watch the show is one thing, but forcing them to like it is asking too much, not everyone is going to like the same thing, I like it for my reasons and mine alone
2. making pornography about the series…porn of cartoon horses…f**king gross doesn’t even cover it
3. bad fanfiction and OC obsession to the point where they will have a fit to anyone who mocks either…but then again what fandom doesn’t have these
and now we come to the point where I draw a line that has been crossed, breaking our motto, the motto is ‘Love and tolerance’
Love = to be kind and caring to each other for the things we have in common
Tolerance = to respect each other’s differences
Needless to say the 1st point has already broken this, but people can be like that, so no biggie…but frankly this is not the case when it involves something as low and pathetic as racism
But before that, let me explain something else

Humanization
In a fandom, this is the process of taking a non-human character and making them human
For example, in the Mario series you could take yoshi, one of bowser’s minions or even an ally from paper mario and make them human
A very common one is Pokémon, many people take the wacky creatures and design them as humans
An interesting example is the Cartoon Network show ‘Regular Show’, not something im into, but it has a vast fanbase and already there are loads of pictures of humanized version of the blue jay and the raccoon main characters
…Oh yeah, I’ve also been told touhou apparently has this as well, how in a series that’s pretty humanized already? Remember the giant random catfish that meiling fought?...yep, im told there’s humanizations of him…wow, just wow 0_o
Frankly, pick a series that’s popular enough and has non-human characters and chances are that it will have a humanized version of it somewhere on the internet, I mean heck I’ve done a few myself, even my own imp Drogo (also done by many others, thanks everyone who has ), and my non-touhou videos aren’t all that popular compared to the rest of the internet
So it’s no surprise that MLP:FIM has this in spades seeing as its is filled with animal (and mythological) characters and is hugely popular, usually the hair is an indication to the character since its usually based on there manes, obviously the main characters get this treatment the most, but so do many of the others, once I see human versions of the dragons from the episode ‘Dragon Quest’ I think it’s fair to say every single characters has been done least east once
I can tell you from doing it myself, it isn’t an easy process, but if you get good results, it’s a fun process, the only rule is that we need to be able to look at the character and know who it is, as long as that applies it can look however you want, you can give whatever clothes you want to the character, you can give them whatever crazy hairstyle you like, you can make their facial features look as you wish and whatever skin-colour you like, if your daring you could even try the same colour as the character, I.E if the character is blue give them blue skin (although I will warn you this can make them look weird)
However for some it’s not just the freedom of design, it’s trying to capture their personality…this can result in similar themes, I mean almost every human Twilight Sparkle has her looking like either a student or a geek/nerd (usually with sweaters or other ‘bland outfits’), but so what, it your designing it to try and top someone then it will look terrible anyway, that last sentence is art in a nutshell
Besides they all look different, heck I remember seeing a photo of 3 Twilight Sparkle cosplayers standing next to each other, it was like they were dressed as 3 different versions of Twilight’s personality
So it’s a fun process and there’s nothing wrong with doing it it…but some people would rather disagree with that

So like I said, many themes pop up:
applejack is almost always drawn in southern/farm clothes
rarity is commonalty found in glamorous dresses,
pinkie pie’s clothes are usually as colourful and wacky as she is
fluttershy’s clothes; cute, adorable or anything else that makes you want to hug her
rainbow dash…erm…not fully sure…but she’s never in a dress I can say that much
and as said earlier, twilight is either student or geeky
now sometimes the characters are drawn racially different, as I said nothing wrong with that, but the most common of all is designing Twilight as an African American, I’m not fully sure if people just think alike or something inspired it but it’s very common, my best guess is that there is a cosplayer who made a really great Twilight costume with many photos of her in it over the net and she happens to be black…but that’s just me guessing, I could easily be wrong
so for whatever reason ‘black twilight’ is a common humanization of her and who’s to say it’s wrong? Like someone told me “in reality twilight isn’t black or white, she’s purple, so what’s the fuss?”

But rabid bronies made a fuss of it, swarms of comments of “Y IZ TWILIGHT A NIGGA”, “DIS IZ GAY CUZ TWILIGHT IS NOT RLY BLACK” and more racism that makes me embarrassed to be a brony were posted on these pictures and even photos

As a member of both I came across both…I was horrified, sure I may not know why I see Twilight in particular drawn as an African American above the other characters but I didn’t stoop to racism, besides a lot of the pictures are cute (as pony fanart often is) so what’s the big deal?
And it doesn’t stop there, an infrequent theme is Fluttershy drawn in as a Muslim, people raging over her being dressed as a ‘terrorist’…not all Muslims are terrorists, that’s just a racist stereotype, I saw a picture of her in Muslim clothing and it proved that no matter what Fluttershy wears she will always look cute :3 (so long as she isn’t Flutterraging or being a spiteful Flutterbitch anyway), I don’t get how people can go this low
Want more? Jewish Rainbow Dash? Nothing wrong with that, we don’t know if the series even has religion in it or not so it’s neither right nor wrong, but rabid bronies complain, so now were dragging Anti-Semitism into this as well
I can bare clicking a random link and then shutting down my internet browser as fast as I can due to being scared from seeing an image involving ‘Big Mac’s big horsecock’, rule 34 exixsted before it was even called rule 34, but racism, no just no

Yea, I’m not impressed the ‘Love and Tolerance’ motto means nothing to these people

I will go on record and say this doesn’t exactly mean Anti-Bronies are much better
sure some of them can be sane reasonable people who understand not all bronies are rabid, that’s why I joined those above mentioned groups, but some can be hate-filled attention whores who demands that everybody knows how much they hate the show and its fans to the point when they become worse than the people they are hating
some even give the fans horrible stereotypes, fair enough for the portrayal of fat, greasy, spotty geeks who have never seen sunlight or a bar of soap, this is a joke for fans in general, but the theory ‘all bronies fap to horses’…arg, how dare they put that image in my head >.<
I will say that I am a fan and am not attracted to horses or any animal for that matter, call me crazy but I prefer human woman
A person favourite one of mine, some immature kid, probably around 13, he came up to one of my touhou videos, ignore the newly placed FAQ, complained about how I pronounced a Pokémon name, and then left to another video to say “this video sucks because it has brony in the title also is crosses over touhou and ponies which is an insult to touhou because ponies suck”…all of which is picked up from the title since it was called “UN was her brony”…did he even watch the video? Thankfully the people who have a brain responded and put him in his place…shame he probably won’t even read them and realise what an idiot he made of himself

…I guess on the bright side at least I learnt there are assholes in this fandom after knowing the series for several months after becoming a fan rather than 2 years like I did with touhou, that was a nasty shock, to be honest I don’t even think I want to make touhou videos anymore, the way people approach me and treat my names makes me feel I’m expected to make them, I don’t want to make them because I HAVE to, I want to make them because I WANT to
